Raised in a lower middle-class home, Tabitha Smith was born to a pair of abusive parents whose attitudes towards her became progressively worse when her mutant powers manifested at the age of 13. Resentful at how she was being treated, she played a prank on her father, Marty, by leaving a small plasma ball in his food tray, resulting in a small, but non-lethal explosion and a very painful beating. Learning of a school for mutants somewhere in New York, Tabitha was determined to attend; at the tender age of 16, she ran away from home and boarded a train with every intent to get herself enrolled.

The train did not make it to its destination. Somewhere around Washington D.C., the train was wrecked by a cosmic entity called the Beyonder, which resulted in a bizarre string of events that propelled the Beyonder to deliver her to Xavier's School of Gifted Youngsters, only for its X-Men to attack him. The Beyonder fled, leaving Tabitha confused and frightened by what just happened, and ran away from her would-be benefactors, but considering the friendship she struck with the Beyonder, she was later brought to a planet where she witnessed his engagement against several alien beings. Once again out of her depth, she demanded that she be brought home. Several months later, she met the Vanisher and fell in with his gang of thieves called the Fallen Angels, and was later recruited into the Brotherood as a demolitions 'expert.'

Recent Events

Her personality reflects much of the powers she was born with. Tabitha is full of verve, attitude and flair, and is always the first to eagerly get into trouble and has often found many creative ways to get in it as much as she does in getting out of it. She is often the life of the party, lively, spirited, rebellious and opinionated, and is often the first to point out how ridiculous a situation is - nevermind the fact that she is almost always ridiculous herself. Her extroverted persona, however, is what she uses to mask her myriad of insecurities that come with a woman of her background: abused and unloved by her parents, influenced by criminals and dragged along as a passenger and prop for cosmic entities who are impossibly more powerful than herself, it is understandable that she is often reluctant to appear vulnerable or weak, or that she cares about anything. Deep down, however, she is capable of great love, and is particularly sensitive to rejection and it is the latter, in the end, that propelled her to the side of the Brotherhood, if not just to take some semblance of personal power back from a world that seems determined to hate her and her kind.

RP Hooks

  • Fallen Angels: Tabitha is a member of the Fallen Angels, a Los Angeles-based group of street thieves and ne'erdowells led by the Vanisher. As a result, she's got a bead on the pulse of the American criminal underground.
  • Brotherhood: Given her parents' rejection of her and the bizarre events that led to her transient existence, it's probably unsurprising that the Maximoffs have managed to recruit her with ease. She lends her talents to the Brotherhood as its demolitions 'expert.'

  • Pietro Maximoff (Quicksilver) and Wanda Maximoff (Scarlet Witch): With them, for the first time, Tabitha found the acceptance she needed and craved, and their own relationship with their infamous father resonates with her own troubles at home and plays a huge part in why the twins took her in as their own. As a result, she is less Brotherhood-aligned as she is Maximoff-aligned, and wherever they go, she will undoubtedly follow.
  • Roberto "Bobby" da Costa (Sunspot): They knew each other when they were both young mutants, when Bobby, for a time, fell in with the Fallen Angels. Circumstances prevented them from staying with each other and now that their adult years have seen them fall on opposite sides of the line, any reunions are bound to be complicated.
  • Samuel "Sam" Z. Guthrie (Cannonball): Tabby's ex-boyfriend. She heard he's married now or something.
  • Telford Porter (The Vanisher): This old man was responsible for Tabitha's growth as a thief and criminal, and that kind of relationship comes with all the expected complications.
  • The Beyonder: Don't even get Tabby started with this guy.

Character Sheet

PLASMA GENERATION & DETONATION: Tabitha can create balls of plasma of varying sizes, which explode with concussive force commensurate with how small or large she makes them, and can even control when they explode. She can create balls as small as marbles or as large as beach balls, and perhaps even bigger when given enough time and room to concentrate in order to create them. She can also muffle the sound of the detonation and generate explosive energy as streams that respond to her thought directions. While mostly known for her "time bombs," she can even shape the energy she generates into other simple weapons, like swords.

PLASMA REABSORPTION: Tabitha can reabsorb the energy of her non-detonated bombs.

POWER IMMUNITY: Tabitha is immune to the effects of her own powers. Simply put, her own time bombs cannot kill her. She found this out the hard way.
