Always someone around, everyone so open to not shooting a shadowy thing on sight, it's like the opposite of Gotham in here. Ombra eagerly meets new kids, teens, adults young and older, yet dares not touch them. Some things are just too hard to risk. She has been assured of acceptance, but her worry knows no bounds and when it comes to scaring people away, Ombra worries a great deal. Her silent form meanders the upper floor, exploring each of the non-dormitory rooms, finding an endless array of artwork and decorative objects she can stare at without having any understanding about them. Even though she is accepted, it's hard for people to stay nearby when they have other duties to attend and the silent deaf girl isn't very good conversation. It doesn't bother Ombra. She feels at peace with this place. As a guest.

* * *

Dead Girl, of course, had noticed Ombra missing- and since she their first meeting where Ombra seemed rather depressed, she'd set one of her Ghost Friends on the shadowy lass to ensure she'd be okay.

The Ghost told Dead Girl where to find her friend. A big mansion in the middle of no-where with a bunch of mutant kids. Some obviously mutants. Some not. She watched for a day or so- just to make sure it wasn't some weird cult.

And then decided to make her way inside. Getting into places like this is a lot easier when you're able to phase through the ground and solid objects are more or less of a suggestion. The odd geometry of the Astral realms makes getting upstairs just as easy. Red Eyes soon peeking out from the ceiling.

Target Acquired! Dead Girl rephases near Ombra, holding up a piece of paper she's prepared for this: "You okay? Not Kidnapped? No Brainwashing?"

* * *

Only a couple of seconds pass between materializing friend showing herself and Ombra realizing who said friend is and then Ombra rapidly putting arms around that friend, all too happy to see her again. While her expression is very difficult to notice to say the least, her posture, her body language tells a tale. No urgency about it, no fear. No worry. Her hug was also friendly, casual, nothing about it seemed to have distress behind it.
Seeing the paper in hand after letting go, Ombra looks up at her deceased friend, then accepts the page, setting it on a table to help it serve as a writing surface, with books to hold it steady. and with a standard issue student's #2 pencil, with several waiting to be the next to be absorbed, Ombra writes. 'many new friends here'. Pencil down.

* * *

Dead Girl returns the hug happily! A squeeze! A moment to read and a bright grin. She writes herself next. 'That is good! I was worried when you didn't come back! But, this is a much nicer place than a tomb!' she says, 'I just wanted to make sure you are okay.'

Dead Girl looks around, curious for now as she watches things- still careful to judge. This really wasn't a scene for a Dead Girl- a lot of people starting life… not so many who've passed on.

* * *

'just visiting' Ombra scribes as she reads the note, and extrapolates. She hugs again, helpfully silencing the other students and everything else from Dead Girl's perspective. Naturally, looks are cast in the direction of the Ghosts of Gotham, but none of them seem angry, which thrills Ombra when she spots them. None seem scared. Curiosity. She lets go again, a little sheepish, still excitedly bouncing in place. 'how long was I gone? hard to keep track of time'

* * *

Another bit of writing, 'A few days. You have a ghost following you, I asked them to watch out and make sure people didn't hurt you.'. she writes, 'Hope you don't mind. I was worried someone might try to hurt you again'. Another pause, before she writes some more, 'Are you eating okay?' Friend questions!

Weird looks are not something Dead Girl seems bothered by- sure, she's the Ghost of Gotham and has done some pretty nasty things to bad people- but most of the time she's just a friendly lady!

* * *

Rather than writing more, and risking pencil destruction despite the presence of several backups and their value being pretty much negligible due to the vast supply, Ombra gives a thumb up signal, then pulls on Dead Girl's arm to show her the things she has seen, excitedly. Mansions are really new as experiences go to her. She cannot make sound, so she cannot disrupt by opening doors unrelated to a class in progress! The page is folded and handed to Dead Girl to prevent it from being eliminated by her continued touch. Library proper being the first stop. It's massive. She has not dared to try to read any of the books, but there certainly are a lot of them and she has a vast fondness for literature. So the library, she finds important.

* * *

"Oooh.." Dead Girl says, following Ombra as she's led about this place her friend has 'discovered'. "That's neat!" she says, returning the thumbs up with a smile- not minding as she's wrapped in shadows and led along by her friend. She's stepping out of the shadows once they've stopped moving to look through the books. "Ooh. Big library- must be nice for something. Reading, probably." she continues, still smiling as she watches Ombra do her thing and give the grand tour.

* * *

Ombra vicariously reads, which is taking looks at books that other people have opened, trying to not disturb them but her presence can still be a little unsettling without a face. The carpet turns solid black when she enters, making it a little harder to track her movements, but lots of background things to contrast her. The upper tour is brief, as she has only ventured to look around and there are limited features. Her excitement grows again and she hurriedly sets the paper back up, 'met friend named Ryan - talked to mind - OMG' Boing boing boing boing.

* * *

"Well, that's pretty nifty! Must have been nice not to have to wait for the writing or the Ouija Board!" Dead Girl says, speaking clearly and slowly- lip-reading being what it is. Dead Girl can't help but grin- she can tell that Ombra is excited about this new place, and is clearly happy for her friend.

She writes the next bit- 'This place is a school. It seems like a good place. Very few ghosts.'

* * *

Knowing it can't interfere with the writing that goes on, Ombra leans against Dead Girl as they stay in one spot with the paper. She tries to see what is said before that, and gets almost all of it! She circles the 'OMG' and draws a little smiley emoji like image with some exclamation marks and heart-shaped eyes. She might quite have liked the experience. Her message is so subtle. 'nice people - glad not many dead - I dont belong' Smiley face. Not heart-eyes or anything. She's content.

* * *

Dead Girl nods slowly. She writes it plain- 'Do you want to stay? Would they let you? You can, if you want. I will visit'. But, she'll obviously miss her friend- but a good friend can't let someone give up an opportunity like living with people who accept them. Dead Girl has the Dead- and her ever growing collection of graveyard cats.

* * *

Ombra circles the words 'I dont belong' as reply, and adds 'they accept me but I would burden them'. She knows the truth behind the ideals. They want to make it so humans and others will one day live in harmony, but the school is there to hide those who cannot hide themselves. Hiding her would mean keeping her away from anyone seeing and that is hard to accomplish with what happens when she touches things. She does add 'Super nice to me here too' as she leans in again.

* * *

"Oh." Dead Girl says, drawing Ombra into another hug. She writes, then, 'Do you feel cold? I will get space heater and things for you for winter'. It seems she figures Ombra will come back to the tomb, then. 'I also need to get you food you like.' she goes on, 'I like to cook'.

Dead Girl smiles still, 'You will always be welcome with me'. she says, then underlines always three times, before circling it.

* * *

Ombra looks a little puzzled, at least her posture seems to show that. It's very hard to see much since her body and that of Dead Girl have merged visually speaking into a single mass of blackness, and the floor's carpeting matches. Good thing there's text shorthand! Cold? 'idk not feeling it' By now Dead Girl has probably noticed that Ombra doesn't wear anything, but with her making things vanish by touch, that's probably justified. She draws away, before the same thing happens to Dead Girl's things. Even if they are part of her spirit and thus it would be impossible to bring them harm, Ombra doesn't want to chance it. 'never hungry but I like tasting'. Big smiley after the circled phrase.

* * *

'Then we get the foods you like to taste!' Dead Girl writes, still clearly happy. Dead Girl's clothes are just clothes, although, she does seem to be able to carry them into and out of her phased state- it's natural necromantic magic.

'Want you to be comfortable, and feel at home.'. Dead Girl writes then, smiling brightly.

* * *

The shadowy girl gets an idea, circling the word cold, and begins to move through the mansion as one of the many cats that Dead Girl has living in the crypt with her. Ombra has proven to be able to become any of them at all, at least in shape and everything they can do. It accords her speed and agility she would find lacking when she is human-shaped and weighs that much. She ends up in a kitchen, changing back there, opening the refridgerator's freezer, getting a few ice cubes and holding them against her bare arm, shutting the freezer's door with a push from her head. It isn't long before the ice cubes vanish. A thumb up!

* * *

Dead Girl follows, just phased out as she floats after her friend shaped as a cat. She nods, then, smiling bright and putting her thumbs up! Good to know! She's just smiling when again she grows solid, alighting on the ground to look around the kitchen. "Wow. This is a big kitchen." she says, primarily to herself. "Guess it makes sense with all those kids." she shrugs then, "Hey, you enjoy your fun here, yeah?" she says, facing Ombra again.

"I need to get back to Gotham- I have work to do, but I wanted to make sure you were safe, first." Dead Girl hugs Ombra again, smiling bright.

* * *

The rest of the tour that Ombra can give is limited by detail. She was shown a few things when she arrived, and wasn't able to get a lot of actual information, but the written rules, the mission statement and other simple policies that anyone could find told her all she needed to know. This is a safe haven. She can come here and find friends. But it's not her home. The parting hug, it turns out to be a notifying one instead. Ombra is ready to go. She could stay here for years making new friends over time, and never run out of people to meet, but they don't deserve what might happen if she stayed. With a wave that few see, and those that do see respond with a wave of their own, Ombra departs from the mansion.
