It had been a good show, despite his state of mind. Not one of his greatest but the owner of the bar had invited them back. Jay had been concerned about the news.

He should've listened. Andrea had told him not to turn on the news. Which meant he immediately asked the owner of the bar to turn on the tv. He read about the attack. He immediately texted back. Offered to cancel the show, to come home. Andrea had assured him all was well and to do the gig. Once he actually heard her voice and knew she wasn't just saying words to be supportive but actually meant them, he had agreed.

Which is why when he came home, the door was opened at speed and practically slammed shut behind him, locks automatically flicked into place with the ease of habit. "Andrea??"

* * *

Sprawled out on the couch is Andrea, who is ignoring her phone that buzzes rapidly over and over again nearby. She's dressed in a pair of pajama shorts and a t-shirt, looking comfortable with a bowl of large buttery popcorn next to her. On the television she is watching a TV show. No news.

At the sight of him barreling into the condo, she offers him up a grin. "Hey babe. I'm /fine/. I told you I was fine. Not a bruise on me." She assures as she shifts over to make room on the couch. "How did the show go? Did you bring the roof down?"

Opening her arms, she looks for a hug from him.

* * *

Jay looks her over for a long moment, trying to assure himself visually. He pulls his sweatshirt off over his head, wings rustling free from being hidden and tucked into his baggy jeans. They half spread behind him, like a stretch of the arms for a person when they've been in one position for too long. Then he is across the room, dropping onto the couch and pullig her over onto his lap as his arms and wings both wrap around her.

"Let me look at you." He pulls back a little, glancing down at her and checking for bruises, scratches, anything. Even though she just told him otherwise.

* * *

"Jay, come on." Andrea gives him a few pokes in the side with a laugh. "I'm fine, and even if I did get hurt, I'd just heal it instantly. I did knock a guy out though, so that was fun. Got to go all wolfy in Times Square. I'm trending worldwide now on Twitter. Go me." She says with a hint of amusement in her voice.

"Was a group of homeless mutants. They called me a traitor and an Uncle Tom and all those other awesome words. Sell out. Blah blah." She curls her arms about him, pushing him backwards on the couch as she mounts his lap to stare down at him. "If they only knew."

* * *

"That you are an awful person supporting mutants who don't register? Even spending your time with one here. On a couch." Jay's tone is lighter but the worry is still there in every line of him.

For her? This is nothing. For him? Everytime something like this happens, it brings back all that fear of losing her like he lost his first love. He knew he couldn't make it through that a second time. There wouldn't be another Andrea to save him. He buried his face against her shoulder, taking a slow breath and breathing in the scent of her, just surrounding himself with her as he held her tightly in that cocoon of wings and arms.

* * *

"No, they think I'm a sell out because I serve the Hollywood machine and I profit from being a mutant, when others are being hunted and killed." Andrea says as she traces a finger along his chest. "I guess in a way they are right."

Staring down at him, she leans in and brushes her lips against his, sliding her fingers under his shirt to trace upwards to settle over his chest. She seeks out the warmth of his heartbeat. "Hey, I'm okay." She assures him again as she is wrapped up in his angel wings. "This is why I didn't want you to turn on the news and get worried about me. I'm a tank, and James was with me of course."

* * *

"You are profitting from your voice and your talent. Singing and acting. Not from being a mutant," Jay responds though his voice is muffled since he seems content buried against her shoulder. He finally forces himself to let go a little so he can pull back and look at her face a little above him now, due to their position.

"You aren't getting money from being a mutant. You aren't out there making werewolf movies. Though I remember that script you turned down so you are doing the exact opposite of what they accuse you of."

* * *

"I'm not intentionally, but the reality is, people are also tuning in because I am a mutant. In the news I am the /mutant popstar/ Andrea Jackson. I am the /mutant/ Disney actress. It's always mutant before any of my achievements." Andrea says as she stares down at him, leaning in to bump her nose against his.

"That script was /so/ terrible. Maybe if they do a Twilight sequel I will sign up for that. Save some money in CGI budgets." She says in a teasing way. "I was a bit scared though, worried that someone else around me would get hurt. I know I can at least take the pain, but I don't want an innocent to get caught up in it all."

* * *

"You did not just suggest that there A) be a Twilight sequel and B) that you would participate in it. I will break up with you on the spot if you are serious," Jay tells her in a warning tone, though his eyes are showing amusement.

He does give a little shrug at the rest. "Though they might be marking things as mutant this or that, you were a star before you were known as a mutant. Sounds like ignorance on the part of those people who attacked you."

* * *

Sam Guthrie was actually at the show, but in the back trying not to be obvious there. He gave the couple a bit and then came by knocking on the door.

* * *

"It seemed fairly well coordinated. They have a shotcaller out there.. Big guy.. I think he has enhanced strength and durability. He was ordering this girl around named Alexis. She plays the violin. I think she controls fire." Andrea says with a furrow, then shakes her head.

The pair of them are on the couch, with Andrea on top of his hips and her hands under his shirt. His wings are wrapped about her as they talk quietly to each other.

"And you wouldn't dare break up with me. You do that, and I'll write a song about you. Will call it The Angry Rooster or something." She says teasingly to him as she leans down to steal a quick kiss from him before he can get huffy and puffy. When she leans in to deepen it, she hears the knocking at the front door, then sighs as she flops down against him for a moment. "Come in!" She calls over as she turns her head to the door. Only a few people have access to her secured elevator.

* * *

"Except I locked the door," comes the response from Jay with a laugh. He carefully untangles himself from her and rises to his feet, heading for the door and unlocking it before opening. Seeing Sam, he has to give his brother a quick hug then steps aside to let him in the apartment. Once he's in, Jay is locking the door behind him.

"Loooks like I wasn't the only worried one."

* * *

Sam Guthrie hugs Jay back, and says "Ah, so seems like Ah aint the only one who saw the news?" He looks over and says "Considering Jay aint got his shotgun, Ah am taking it your at least mostly ok?" He will ask Andrea offering her a smile to her.

* * *

"I'm fine, of course. I know how to handle myself. Who doesn't like hearing about werewolves in Times Square?" Andrea says with a grin as she watches the pair of brothers together. She's wearing a pair of pajama sleep shorts and a simple t-shirt. "James was with me, and the mutants that attacked were just low leveled untrained nobodies. I didn't even break a sweat. It was over pretty quickly."

* * *

"She keeps telling me she's fine. But I am curious about this group. Did they get taken into custody or did some of them get away? I feel like we need to track them down if they did. Before they do this to someone less well prepared." Jay moves toward the kitchen area. "Anyone want a drink or something? I'm grabbing a water." There is already a bucket of popcorn on the table by the couch.

* * *

Sam Guthrie looks over and says "Got any cheerwine?" He will ask his brother and looks over to Andrea. "I thought all werewolves where from London." He says. He will move to have a seat on a chair opposite of the couch ""So want to catch me up on what you two have figured out before I got here?

* * *

"Far as I know, no one was taken into custody and they got away. I gave a statement to the police and then James drove me home. I was watching a girl play violin, she started speaking cryptically to me, next thing I knew I was being rushed by them. One was strong, one had static electric powers, the other had control of fire." Andrea gives a long stretch of her body.

* * *

"Did Elvis like peanut butter? Of course we have Cheerwine." And Jay disappeared into the kitchen. He returned a minute later with two cold bottle of the soda, having been listening from the distance. He handed one bottle to his brother then settled back on the couch by Andrea. "Seen this girl there before with the violin? Was she there as a street vendor or on the payroll, I wonder? Might be a good place to start."

* * *

Sam Guthrie hmms and says "We should check your twitter, and other feeds see if anyone posted any video of it, so we can see if we can identify any of them. Anything that stood out in particular to you about any of their appearances, for us looking for them?

* * *

"I mean, I don't see the point really. It's not like we're the mutant police. I'm sure the FBI or whatever will do their job and look into it." Andrea says as she shrugs her shoulders upwards. "I'm not too worried. It wouldn't be New York City if something weird didn't happen." She says with a grin, leaning into Jay as she curls her arms about his waist.

* * *

This is one of those rare moments. Generally, Jay was all about letting the authorities do it. He wasn't a fan of the whole vigilante thing, though he'd been exposed to the X-Men forever thanks to his big brother. Yet today?

"I dunno. It might happen again if you were targetted specifically. And no one was caught the first time. The odds are there will be another attempt."

* * *

Sam Guthrie hmms, and says "Well it is best to keep an eye on these things, and make sure none are after family, or draw too much attention to those around you. Could be back for Jay."

* * *

Shrugging her shoulders, Andrea says, "Well, there's nothing I can do about it. I'm just going to wake up tomorrow and go back to work. I'm not going to let this get under my skin. I receive enough shit on the Internet as it is." She bumps into Jay again. "You want some dinner, Sam?"

* * *

"That could cause some problems. If they managed to kill me. Only for me to get up a few hours later." Jay frowns a little, eyeing his brother and knowing they are on the same wavelength. He gives a smile to Andrea at the bump and nods to Sam. "Yeah, stay for dinner."

* * *

Sam Guthrie hmms and says "Ah could eat, and aint wanting to let it get under your skin, but Ah worry it is sorta what Ah am known for you can ask most any of my friends, and family." He teases a bit

* * *

Smirking, Andrea leans over and gives Jay a firm kiss before pushing up and plodding for the kitchen. "No dying." She tsks him. "I'd be /really/ sad, even if you did get back up again. Gonna start code naming you Walking Dead or something. Zombie Rooster." As she rummages through the fridge, she clicks her tongue in thought. "I'm just gonna bake this pizza I have in the freezer. I'm feeling lazy."

* * *

"Pizza sounds fine," Jay calls out to her from the living room. He takes a sip of his drink then looks back to Sam, lowering his voice a little. "Send me whatever you find. I know I'm not usually one to get in on this hero stuff but I have a bad feeling about this one. I don't know why."

* * *

Sam Guthrie nods, and says softly "Will keep you in on the loop, warning ya a head though Dani and the others been through some hard times, recently. She lost an eye in another future, and is trying to prep to prevent it.

* * *

Putting the pizza into the oven, Andrea starts on pouring drinks into large glasses filled with ice. Humming to herself, she tilts her head slightly to hear the muffled noises of the conversation in the other room, though she can't pick out more than a few words. She ponders tuning into her wolf senses, but decides against it. "Should be done in about 20!" She calls out to them.

* * *

Sam Guthrie looks over and says "So, besides the attack anything interesting been going on, any new conspirisary theories about you?

* * *

"About me? My mother was supposedly bitten by a radioactive wolf and it's how I got my powers." Andrea laughs as she heads back out into the living room to rejoin them. Sliding in next to Jay, she fusses with his hair a bit before giving his cheek a kiss. "I suppose I am worried a bit about this attack possibly exposing Jay as a mutant. Maybe you should move back in to your old school for a few days until this blows down?"
