After an exciting night, Paige had popped over across the city to to the rich part of Manhattan to see her brother. The blonde Guthrie is dressed in a pair of slim jeans and a flannel shirt under a thick puffy jacket to keep warm from the winter chill. After riding the elevator to the top, she heads down the hall to knock on the door.

"Hey Jay, it's yah sis. Open up! Got some news for yah." Her thick Southern drawl comes out of her throat, having decided against hiding it a few years back. It appears that she has embraced her inner hick once again.

In her hands is a bag of breakfast sandwiches she snagged from a small shop down the street. At this height of sixteen floors, she takes a moment to look out over the view of New York City, brows raising upwards. "Geezus, ah' don't think ah'll evah' get used ta' this." She mutters to herself.

* * *

There is a count of at least thirty. Then ten more. When she might be getting ready to bang on the door again, it is yanked open and there stands Jay looking like he just got out of bed. His hair is a complete mess. He's got on a pair of pajama bottoms and a plain white tank top, red wings visible behind him. "This whole idea of working gigs at night and sleeping during the day is still not getting through, huh?"

The good natured grin takes the bite out of his words. He manages to offer a hand to take the bag out of the way while using his other arm to give his big sister a hug. Then he steps back to off her entry into the apartment while he heads for the kitchen to turn on some coffee. It's necessary. Really necessary. "You want some coffee?" he calls as he finds his flavor and is about to pop it in the Keurig.

* * *

"You think ah' wasn't working late last night?" Paige says with a smirk as she hugs him back. "Ah' had three hours of sleep. Was up real late with Sammy. Was pretty intense." She steps into the room, giving a long look around, whistling. "Look at you. This is an upgrade from sharing a bedroom with four siblings on th' farm. How is it yah living room got it's own echo?"

"Sure, coffee sounds good. Ah' got breakfast sandwiches for us ta' chow down on. Ah' take it yah' princess is out and about for work? This kinda involves her." As she puts the bag down, she shrugs out of her jacket and hangs it up on the back of a chair. At least she doesn't look harmed.

"Speaking of, how did your show go? Ah've been meaning ta' get to one of them and cheer yah' on all obnoxious like. Maybe ah'll bring th' boyfriend along so you can meet him."

* * *

He pulls down a second up for her and slips it under the Keurig. Then he pops it on and waits for hers to brew as he starts to unbag sandwiches, throwing them on small plates. "Yeah, Andrea had some meetings this morning with her label so she got up first thing and headed out. I rolled over. Continued snoring." He doesn't snore. But it's an amusing visual.

As her coffee is done, he fixes it the way she likes (cream, sugar, whatever). Then he brings out the cup and sandwich to the dining table, setting it down for her and going back to make his own coffee. While in there, he does finger comb his hair into some semblence of order. When he has his own coffee, black, and sandwich, he joins her and sits down in a chair.

"Intense? What were the two of you up to last night?"

* * *

"We were able to inflitrate the group that attacked yah' girlfriend. Found ah' few of 'em at a bar, convinced them that we were up ta' no good and they gave us an invite. Sammy though ran his mouth ta' a pretty girl who then in turn told th' boss, and blew our cover. That boy is not good at being sneaky." Paige says as she takes a seat at the kitchen table.

"So, we got invited ta' a warehouse where a whole gang of lower level mutants was hiding out, all unregistered and angry at the government. They had weapons for days mounted on th' walls. Lots of ammo. Their boss told us if we wanted ta' join, we'd have to kill one of his weakest members to take his place." She shifts her jaw, opening the bag of sandwiches.

* * *

"He never has been sneaky. Somehow that skipped him in the clan," Jay says as he takes a bite of his sandwich while listening to the story. His forehead wrinkles a bit as he hears about their recruiting.

"Obviously you didn't kill anyone. And then the girl blew it for you?"

* * *

"Course we didn't kill anyone." Paige gives him a wide grin. "They called themselves Spare Change. Heard whispers of them from my street contacts, but it was another to see them up close and personal. They got a boss named Miller. Big guy. Super strength and durability from what ah've seen. He came out that he already knew of our plan, but he still had no clue who we were."

"So, ah' ripped mah' skin off and became th' Terminator and told 'em that we were the X-Men and we were shutting this shit down. They all freaked out and more than half of them turned their back on the boss. It also came out he murdered one of their own a few days ago, so he lost their trust."

"Pretty girl took our side too. Her name is Alexis. Pyrokinetic. She's the violinst that yah' girlfriend met. She took off after I .. uh .. blew the warehouse up.. by accident." She says with a chortle.

* * *

"Not sure why him murdering one of their own was a surprise when their initiation requires a new person to murder one of their own," Jay says with a roll of the eyes. "Sounds like they weren't too bright if that was a shocker to them."

He continues to eat as she narrates, nodding here and there. "So this Alexis betrayed you guys but then turned on the boss and helped? Guess that's good. Wouldn't trust her as far as I can throw her. And how, precisely, does one accidentally blow up a warehouse?"

* * *

"He said th' group can only have fifteen members at a time. No clue why he killed the last guy, but ah' guess he wanted ta' test our mental fortitude and commitment. We sold ourselves as bad guys. He wanted ta' see us be bad guys. See if we had what it takes. He's a cult leader." Paige says as she slides a sandwich to him.

"But, ah' guess she was planning on stabbin' him in the back. He sorta beat th' crap outta her face that night and made her cough up the information on us. One of 'em bragged they found two new recruits and he was suspicious."

Unwrapping her sandwich, she plucks it up into her hands. "Ah' turned mah' arms inta' acid and soaked th' weapons. Fire extinguishers went off in the ceilings and it was filled with gasoline. Guess it was an escape strategy the big guy put into place. Sammy was able ta' get us all out luckily enough. So, we got a few hotel rooms for th' defecting mutants and we're gonna talk wi' Jean and Scott 'bout having some of them join the school since they're young and don't pass for human. They're just sad souls who scared and brain washed. Once yah got in, yah don't leave without a bullet. That guy is a real asshole. He got away too. Told him to leave New York or he'll have more than two of us knocking on his door."

* * *

"I see. Sucks he got away. Hopefully with things disrupted, he'll have to rebuild his group and go from there." Jay eyes the second sandwich then considers if he should or shouldn't. He's still a growing boy. It won't hurt. Besides, his powers keep him at the optimum weight at all times. No worries about cholesterol and all that stuff others have to care about.

"Andrea should be safe then. That's good at least. A bit annoyed I didn't get to help out. This was one of the few times I would've been agreeable to playing hero."

* * *

"Maybe, but it'd risk exposing yah' as a mutant. You and Andrea got something nice and quiet here and ah' didn't want your life ruined or put on display." Paige offers a grin to him. "That and ah don't think you even have a costume. Can't just show up in blue jeans and a tank top swinging yah' guitar like a baseball bat.

"They only attacked her because it was a moment of opportunity. They saw her in public and figured it would get their name out there It wasn't even personal." She assures him with a nudge of her foot to his under the table. "But if you ever wanna go on patrol with me, ah'd be okay with it. Ah'm trying ta' hit the streets more since ah'm tracking down this mutie hate group."

Taking a bite of her sandwich, she hums around it happily. Yum. "So, what's going on with you? You're pretty happy, right? Everything okay?"

* * *

"I would never hit someone with a guitar!" Jay looks horrified. It's like she asked him to punch Ma in the face. "Why would I treat a beautiful instrument that way? Jeez."

He continues to listen then gives another nod as he works on the second sandwich. "Nah, no need to go play hero. It was only because it was personal. Or thought it was personal. Didn't know it was just opportunity that led to their attack on Andrea."

He glances around at the place and shrugs. "It's what she likes, what she's used to. I'd be just as happy in a nice cabin out in the woods but she likes her finer things. If it makes her happy, then it makes me happy though. That's all that matters." He does give a nod as he takes a sip of his coffee. "Everything is great and yeah, I'm completely happy. Never thought you'd see the day, huh? Although now I tend to write sappy love songs instead of from a place of pain."

* * *

"Ah think what makes yah' happy also matters, Jay." Paige says as she looks about the lavish condo filled with glass, white furniture and marble. "Don't get me wrong, ah'd kill ta' have this kinda swank. Yah' hit the girlfriend jackpot."

"But ah'm happy that you say you're happy, and that you're better. For awhile, ah' was so scared that ah'd lose you. Sammy and I would stay up all night fretting and getting upset, and then out of the blue, she comes into your life. Was like a whirlwind, that girl. She looked at you when she could be lookin' at any other guy. Rich. Famous. She picks a farmboy with a guitar and red wings ta' be her man. And, you was all stubborn 'bout it at first." She says with a laugh.

"Ah remember Sammy and ah' talking 'bout it, how head over heels she was for you, and you were moping about, kicking rocks, beatin' yah'self up. You had a bonafide megastar sending you love letters to the school, askin' ya to Prom, throwing herself at'cha. It made no sense, but we're glad it worked out. She saved your life, and maybe you saved hers."

* * *

He could look back and recognize it all now. But at the time? "Yeah, I was pretty stupid. Was too busy feeling sorry for myself to see this wonderful woman in front of me." He gives one of those loose shrugs. "The thing is, even if she wasn't a megastar. Didn't have money. It's all Andrea. Not her status, her things. Not sure why she fell for me but she certainly saved my life. I'd probably still be moping and doing stupid things if not for her."

He sipped his coffee. "I think maybe the fact I didn't pursue her might have helped. She's chased by admirers All. The. Time. Yet, she can never really know if they are after her for her or for her fame and wealth. I guess with me, she knew what she was getting into."

* * *

"Ah'd also think it's cuz yer' a hunky guy with big ol' red wings strapped to your back and you got the voice of a thousand angels in yah' throat. You're almost symbolic ah' guess you can say. You look like you'd be savin' people's souls and shit." Paige says as she wads up the paper and puts it back in the bag once she lives her lips.

"But instead she saved yours, and gave me mah little brother back." Flashing him a proud grin, she straightens up. "And now you get to live in this big ol' fancy rich place where you got th' entire world undah' yah feet." Her brows lift upwards. "You don't get jealous of all those guys who hit her up?"

* * *

Jay just shrugs at the compliments. He doesn't think of himself really the way that others seem to see him. He's just a guy, a musician, a poet really. Nothing fancy. "Yeah, that whole angel thing. If my powers worked to heal others instead of just me, it would finish it all out with a pretty bow."

At the question, he considers a moment. "Not usually. I know Andrea loves me and I have no doubts about who she is as a person. Others might admire her but she loves me and I know she'll be loyal to me. Same as I am to her and probably why she isn't really jealous either, when girls look at me. I mean, once in a while I might feel a guy crosses the line, not treating a lady properly." Yes, he has some old fashioned values. Southern upbringing. "Then I get upset but not jealous since it's just a sign of insecurity in the relationship. I'm not at all insecure about us."

* * *

"Boys will be boys. Hollywood boys ah'm sure are a lot different than most. They're probably used ta' gettin' their way. Those are the ones ta' watch out for." Paige says as she gives another long stretch of her body. "Ah've been dating this guy named Tyler for 'bout two weeks. He's nice. Finishing up college for sports therapy. He was a jock. Has teleporty mutant powers. Ah' think you'd like him."

"He's gonna be meeting up with Dani and Sam later to talk 'bout potentially working out for the X-Men since he has a good power set. He could use some work on control though. He gets all dizzy headed after using it too many times. He can leave a nickle on one side of the room, then let's say touch a dog on the other. He can send the dog over to the coin in a blink. Ah' got to watch him use it a few times."

* * *

Sam Guthrie arrives from the FRP Room Hub.

* * *

Sam Guthrie will happen to stop by. He lands on the flightpad outside the window as he was flying by, and kncks on the door from the outside.

* * *

"Two weeks? That's a short time. You sure he's ready for…" The sound outside has him turning from the dining table they are sitting at. He rises to his feet to go open the door from the flightpad. He's dressed in pajama bottoms, tank top, feet bare and wings on display. His hair is sort of finger combed into place. Obviously, Paige woke him up with her arrival.

"Hey, Sam." He gives his brother a quick hug. "Come join Paige and me. She brought breakfast sandwiches. You want me to get you a coffee or something?"

* * *

"Yup, two weeks. Known him about a month though, he just got the gall to ask me out." Paige says with a grin. "But, he's a good guy and ah' think it'd really do him some good ta' be around other like minded mutants who can help him grow."

At the sight of Sam, she gives a lazy wave to her brother and teammate. "Hey there big bro. Was just recapping our adventure ta' Jay and talking 'bout life. What brings yah over here? Looking for an autograph or something?"

* * *

Sam Guthrie smiles and says "Some water would work thanks, and least better than her going out with Phil." He says to the two. He does hug Jay back "So how you doing?"

* * *

"I'm good. She told me about the situation. And how much you suck at sneaky," Jay adds with a smile, heading into the kitchen. He opens the fridge and gets a bottle of cold water out then returns to the dining room. He offers it to Sam as he settles back into his seat, a half eaten breakfast sandwich on a plate in front of him.

* * *

"He's terrible at being sneaky. Pretty girls always make him into a goofball." Paige says with a drawl in her throat. "He just can't pretend to be a bad boy." She winks at Jay, then slides the bag of sandwiches over to Sam. "Come on and eat one. You need the protein." Cracking her neck to the side, she grins. "We do need to follow up though with the guys and see if they got any other safehouses out there in case Miller was holing up in one. Was kinda scary how much fire power they had down there."

* * *

Sam Guthrie says, "I was doing ok at being a bad guy but I was going more for being a bad ass. I was intentding to make them think I thought of myself as better than them to get them to try to prove they were worthy of me."

* * *

"Was that before or after you told the pretty girl what you were really there for?" Jay asked innocently as he continued to munch his breakfast. He looked amused, laughter showing clearly in his eyes as he looked at his brother curiously.

* * *

"Both. You shoulda seen him, struttin' about with his chest all puffed up like a cocky rooster, goading everyone ta' take a stab at 'em." Paige says with an amused smirk on her face. "While ah' was tryin' ta pump them for critical information on potential next targets and next moves." She opens up the large fridge mounted into the wall to root out a bottle of water.

* * *

Sam Guthrie look over and cracks his water open taking a sip, and says "And she was all, oh your right, I like you guys, think we were a bit of polar opposites.

* * *

"So it went like those team things seem to always go. Sideways." Jay shakes his head a bit then finishes off his coffee before heading off to rinse plate and cup in sink before loading them in the dishwasher.

"So Alexis is the one that tried to warn Andrea before the attack, right? " He looks to Paige and Sam to confirm as he sits back down.

* * *

"Yup." Paige says as she cracks the cap off the bottle and takes a long sip, giving a few swishes, then swallows. "Still don't know if she's on our side or not. She kinda ghosted right after we cleared things out and ain't seen her since. Ya'd think if her life was in danger she'd stick with us until the coast was clear."

* * *

Sam Guthrie says, "Ah think she is on the good side, but we will see. Found another guy need to get someone in touch with but need to get ahold of Illyana or another magic type for him. Oh Jay you got your residence set here or back home still/"

* * *

"It's set here. Why?" Jay asks curiously. "As for the girl, I hope you're right. That she's a good guy. Could be she's used to taking care of herself so it's automatic for her to disappear, instead of trusting people."

* * *

Glancing over to Sam curiously, Paige wonders about the question as well. "Ma say she still getting mail or something at th' house?" She chuckles, brows lifting upwards. "Ya'know, Jeb should be coming out soon ta' join Xavier's along with Melody. That'll be something, huh? Five generations of Guthries in the school."

* * *

Sam Guthrie says, "We are all one generation, just five different classes." He teases his sister a bit "Need to get it back home, if something happens and you get picked up on the whole registration thing, it is a loop hole but we are not new york state residents, so should not have to register as we are just visiting or what not. Know it aint going to help against some crazies but if something goes to the legal system, could be useful to lawyers, and making bad press for them."

* * *

"Alright. I'll switch it back over to Kentucky then. But not like it isn't all over the press that I'm here. We just make sure I keep things hidden or use an image inducer. Since she's registered adn I'm not."

* * *

"That does worry me at times though. If it gets out that you're a mutant, it'll make her look bad for hiding it." Paige hums in thought. "And it'd put a spotlight on you and everyone else. I think we all knew that'd be a risk though from the start." She shifts her jaw in thought. "But, if it came down ta' it, ah'd register to keep yah' safe." She says softly.

* * *

Sam Guthrie says, "Well the whole him living out of state could be another out for that. He can call it a protest against it even."

* * *

"Ah' suppose that is pretty smart ta' do. But if he's living here and paying taxes, it'll look bad if you know what ah' mean? Even if his home is registered to Kentucky." Paige says with a sigh. "Best thing to do is just keep it under wraps or maybe we can talk to Dani about it, since she works for Shield and get her advice."

* * *

Jay considers a moment. "I'm worried that if I register, they might start looking at the family tree. That being the case, it puts both of you right in their crosshairs. I don't want that either. So better to at least try to work around it, just keep my residence down there." He nods at the suggestion from Paige. "Might be a good idea. See what Dani thinks is the best way."

* * *

Sam Guthrie says, "Oh I was thinking more along the lines still not registering, but if something happens where he is outted for some reason, he can claim "My home is kentucky, there aint no registration law there. Then you add the whole crazy celebrity thing you can possibly get the right angle on things"

* * *

"I'm sure Andrea has lawyers who could spin it the right way. Wold rather not find out though. But that angle seems smart. I'll get it switched back today. Just a few things online and a trip to the post office." Jay glances over to Sam and gives a shrug. "I really didn't think too much about it. Just going on hope and a prayer. This building is in some no fly zone so no chance of the press getting a photo when we're inside at least. Or landing out there."

* * *

Sam Guthrie nods a bit to this and says "Might have to see if we can get someone to fly around looking like Red Wing or something to help hide things.

* * *

"Trust me, if they could get pictures here, it would've already been all over the tabloids. It's the nature of the beast, in the fame bubble," Jay says with a shrug. "I don't know the precise details but it has worked out so far."

* * *

Sam Guthrie shrugs and was just thinking to cover seeing ya around the area but no biggie

* * *

"Not knocking it. Probably isn't a bad idea at all. I try not to spend too much time flying unless it's night or I'm out of town," Jay admits. "Gets a bit…constricting but the price of life here in the city."

* * *

Sam Guthrie says, "At least your not having to wear the constricting harness than Warren used to.""

* * *

That gets a short laugh as Jay shakes his head. "I'm lucky. I don't know if my wings are just more flexible or what. I learned early on how to press them tight against my back and legs. That's why I was always in baggy clothes. To have something fit over them."

* * *

Sam Guthrie nods, and says "You hid them even from ma and the family for a bit, but the voice, I thought was it from the day with the plane crash

* * *

That has Jay looking off to the side a bit. "I didn't want to go off to Xavier's and was afraid if Ma knew I was a mutant too, she'd send me there. I was happy at home." Until the days that he tries not to talk about anymore. "So I figured hide it. The voice I wasn't so lucky with until I learned to control it, figured out I could sound how I wanted. So I just concentrate to sound like myself instead and ta-da, no more mutant voice."

* * *

Sam Guthrie nods, and says "I think most of the little ones are ok with coming up to the school if they get the chance.

* * *

"I'm sure they are. I was just always the different one. Wasn't about the powers or the Xavier's or the X-Men. I just wanted to make music," Jay gives another shrug, grin a little lopsided.

* * *

Sam Guthrie does not add the fact he still thinks might have been a bit of resentment towards him, leaves that alone in the past "So, any new songs on the horizion/

* * *

"Making music is boring! You could put spandex on and get shot at by bad guys every night." Paige calls out from the large plush white couch as she holds up the popstars Grammy to look at it. "This is heavier than ah' thought it would be." She says with a chuckle. "So, what's your plans for today now that yah' woke up?"

* * *

"Apparently a trip to the post office," Jay says as he finished clean up at the dining table then heads to the living room so they can all sit around more comfortably. Paige already had that idea obviously.

"No real plans. We don't have any gigs tonight. Think Andrea is tied up most of the day with work things. So kind of just hanging out, I guess." He glances over to Sam's question. "Andrea and I are working on a duet right now. Just trying to get the vocals sorted out just right."

* * *

Sam Guthrie looks over and says "ah wager number 2 on the list is not get shot at by super or normal villians." He jokes a bit to this and will follow to the living room if Jay does.

* * *

"Oooh, a duet?" Paige calls over, grinning. "Show us your part! We wanna hear it." She says as she sits up straighter and focusing on her younger brother. "Come on! Ah've been dying ta' hear you sing again."

* * *

"No way! This is going to be something special and I won't do it until we're ready. It's all Andrea's baby and I'm not spoiling it by letting you hear it early." A pillow is thrown Paige's way as Jay refuses to budge. "Now if you want to hear something else, sure. But not tha tone."

* * *

Sam Guthrie says, "Well maybe we can get him to sing something else. "Maybe Long arm of the law?" He asks as he grins a bit sipping his water a bit and starts a bit off key "In cumberland kentucky, in a cool hot evening."

* * *

Sam Guthrie says, "Well maybe we can get him to sing something else. "Comberland blues?" He asks as he grins a bit sipping his water a bit and starts a bit off key "I can't stay here much longer, Melinda"

* * *

Sam Guthrie says, "Well maybe we can get him to sing something else. "Comberland blues?" He asks as he grins a bit sipping his water a bit and starts a bit off key "I can't stay here much longer, Melinda The sun is getting high."

* * *

There is a loud snort from Paige at her brother. "Oh come on. You won't give us a sample of it? Sing one of yah' own songs then, don't do a cover." She sprawls out again on the couch. "Ah can turn the radio on and hear those if ah' wanted to."

* * *

Although Paige isn't interested, Jay joins in with his brother. He doesn't bother hiding his powers, letting the 'chorus' aspect of his voice be heard as he joins in with the song. "I can't help you with your truobles, if you won't help with mine. I gotta get down, I gotta get down, Gotta get down to the mine."

Even as he is singing, he is moving to grab a guitar from nearby. One aspect of being in a relationship with a fellow musician? There is always a guitar around, acoustic and electric. There's even a piano.

* * *

Sam Guthrie will continue, he is no where near the singer Jay is or maybe even Paige, but his voice may remind the two of their pa as much as Ma says Sam is like him in appearance, You keep me up just one more night " I can't stop here no more
Little Ben clock says quarter to eight
You kept me up till four
I gotta get down
I gotta get down
Or I can't work there no more. He does try at least with singing

* * *

As she listens to them sing, Paige chuckles as she rolls her eyes upwards and to the side. Goofballs. She taps her foot on the ground to create a beat to go along with the guitar.

* * *

Jay works with his brother, blending and weaving his voice. It does remind him back when their Pa was around and the family would have music in the house. To be honest, that is where his love of all music had started. Those family moments. It was a moment of nostalgia that had him smiling like a goofball.

He continued the song with Sam, adding some guitar flourishes here and there as well. When it ended, he still strummed his fingers over the strings. "I have a song I've done in the club a couple of times. Good reception to it so far."

* * *

Sam Guthrie smiles and says "Lets hear a bit of something that is not being off key by me." He grins a bit at the two and listens now.

* * *

"Well, let's hear it!" Paige says with a grin Jay as she gives a clap of her hands. She puts the Grammy back on the table in front of her, waiting.

* * *

He strums the guitar then Jay slips into 'his' voice. The one he had before his mutant powers. The gift he had originally.

"She's watching the taxi driver, he pulls away
She's been locked up inside her apartment a hundred days
She says, yeah, he's still coming, just a little bit late
He got stuck at the laundromat washing his cape"
She's just watching the clouds roll by and they spell her name like Lois Lane
And she smiles, oh the way she smiles

She's talking to angels, counting the stars
Making a wish on a passing car
She's dancing with strangers, falling apart
Waiting for Superman to pick her up
In his arms yeah, in his arms yeah
Waiting for Superman…"

* * *

Sam Guthrie will applaude softly when his brother finishes the song, and will add "You know Ah do think Miss Lane has a thing for him.

* * *

As she listens to her brother, Paige gets a dopey grin on her face as she watches him. She hums along once she finds the groove to it. "Daaamn, Jay. You're crazy good. That voice. No wonder Andrea jumped you like a dog in heat." She teases him good naturedly. "How is it you aren't selling our stadiums yet?"

* * *

Jay continues the song, just so they get the full thing.

"She's out on the corner trying to catch a glimpse
Nothing's making sense
She's been chasing an answer
A sign lost in the abyss, this Metropolis
She says "Yeah, he's still coming, just a little bit late"
He got stuck at the Five and Dime saving the day"
She says "If life was a movie, then it wouldn't end like this"
Left without a kiss
Still, she smiles, oh the way she smiles, yeah

She's talking to angels, she's counting the stars
Making a wish on a passing car
She's dancing with strangers, she's falling apart
Waiting for Superman to pick her up
In his arms yeah, in his arms yeah
She's waiting for Superman
rTo lift her up and take her anywhere

Show her love and climbing through the air
Save her now, before it's too late tonight
Oh like the speed of light
And she smiles"

He does the chorus again then stops, smiling at the compliments from his siblings.

"Dunno if Miss Lane does but she seems to get rescued by him a lot and write stories so figured it was fitting." He laughs at Paige. "Dog in heat, huh? Wow. Don't ever tell her those words, okay? She might use them in a song in the future or something." He continues to strum the guitar, just plucking the strings as he talks. "Don't really want to sell out stadiums. Not really in it for the fame so much as just being heard, y'know?"

* * *

Sam Guthrie just shakes his head a bi at his sister, and says "You know Ah would not put it past him to have records out under three or four names, and not telling us you know what I mean sis?"

"That true, Jay? You got millions of dollars hiding away under a fake name?" Paige asks as she waits for him to finish, grinning at him. "You may not wanna be famous, but you should get paid for the value of your voice. You really won't give us a taste of this duet of yours? What if I Facetime her and she can sing over the phone?"

* * *

"The only millions I have would be Andrea's. So technically, I don't have it. I have just enough to get me through a week and to the next. With a bit sent back home to Ma, of course," Jay adds as though that is only natural for someone to help their mother with their family bills. "I mean if you really want to do that, you can, but I think it would be better if we do it when we are fully done with it."

* * *

Sam Guthrie respects Jay's choice, and says "Ah have been thinking a bit, want to start a second account of about 10 percent of my pay to put in for any of the little ones who want to go to a private school or college if they aint coming to Xaviers."

* * *

"Yeah, but it's not like you gotta spend a penny of your own money living it up like this." Paige says as she glances about the apartment. "Gotta admit, you kinda got the life right now. Your TV is bigger than mah bedroom." She says as she points to the large flat screen on the wall with a soundbar. It's currently playing screen shots of pictures of Jay and Andrea together being cute out in public or in private. Typical dorky couple stuff that she would set up.

"It feels wrong though sometimes," Jay admits, finally setting the guitar aside but keeping it leaning against the couch beside him. "I mean, I know she doesn't care. She has enough and she likes to make others happy. She likes to use her money for things like that. But we were raised to be the 'man of the house'. And no, not saying women aren't strong and can't be independent," Jay adds with a laugh before Paige might call him out. "It's just that old fashioned thing Ma and Pa raised us with."

* * *

Sam Guthrie looks to the other man and says "Just remember at least your not living on a planet she pretty much owns, and you will be ok." he jokes about the dyson sphere. "I think as long as your not just in it for the money your good litle bro.

* * *

Folding her arms, Paige snorts at him. "You can still be the man of the house and have her be super rich." She has a grin on her face. "Money is not a big deal. I'm sure she still wants you opening the doors and pulling the chairs out and defending her honor, right? She just brings home a bigger paycheck. Tell her that you wanna pay for dinners."

* * *

"I try that. When I can. Doors and chairs, that's an always." Jay considers a moment. "Defending her honor? That gets tougher." He has to laugh again. "She tells me it's just the way it is in the business. It's nothing I should worry about. It's not the jealousy, it's the guy's being assholes." Strong language from the Guthrie brother.

* * *

Sam Guthrie smiles and says "Well Ah would say keep an eye on the others, trust her, and if you think something is odd mention it to her, and if she does not think it is anything keep an eye on it, but don't do anything unless your sure."

* * *

"Pretty sure if anything was happening it'd be in the news. Sides, she's a mutant werewolf. She's more likely to throw a guy threw a wall than you." Paige drawls with a soft laugh. "It's probably better you don't get in people's faces though. Less chance of a fight happening and your wings getting exposed. Either way, you two are cute together and it's working out. Just don't worry too much 'bout all of this." She waves a hand. "It's just stuff after all. You tried asking her to move into something smaller with you?"

* * *

"Yeah, I know what she can do. She's just accepting of things I see no reason to be accepting of. Not like it's a deal breaker. We're good and gonna stay good." Jay shakes his head negatively at the last question. "Never asked her. I kind of follow along with what she likes, what makes her happy. That's what's the most important to me. For her to be pleased. No reason for me to rock the boat when she likes the boat."

* * *

Sam Guthrie nods his head a bit to this and says "And for god sakes remember you don't have to impress her with anything that is not something you would normally do. That ends badly."

* * *

"Well, a relationship is about you both being happy and not just settlin' either, Jay. She may be happy in this pop princess celebrity world of hers, but you need to have some stuff that is yours also. This boat should be both of your boat, not just hers. Are you /sure/ you're /totally/ happy?" Paige says as her brows lift upwards, glancing to Sam for a moment. "What about your likes? What about your needs?"

* * *

"Stop worrying, Ma," Jay says teasingly. Then he turn serious. "All I need in my life is music. And her. That's it. If it is here, if it is in a broken down car. If it is homeless in an alley. Those two things and my life is complete."

* * *

Sam Guthrie says, "You need to get you one of them smart car trucks, then you can write a song about your truck leaving you for another driver." He teases a bit."

* * *

"Ha." Paige says to Sam with a grin, eyes rolling upwards. "But fiiiiine if you say you're okay, then you're okay. Though maybe ah'll jus' have ah' talk with her 'bout letting you pay for dinner or at least helping you get a beat up truck to drive around instead of those fancy Ferraris." She is teasing.

* * *

"You both are crazy. I have no desire to drive anything in this town. Have you /seen/ how these people drive?" Jay asks them, pointing out toward the city visible outside the window. "Much safer taking a taxi. Or someone else driving. I'm good with the chauffeur thing."

* * *

Sam Guthrie grins a bit and nods his head a bit to this and says "Honestly though something I would suggest, if you get a place that has an extra room, you should each have a man woman cave type place, where you can be just you and if your feeling bad about the money you can put a rule in it as only allowed to spend x amount on a present for the others room.

* * *

"You're good with the chauffeur thing. Listen to you. He /is/ a rock star." Paige laughs harder as she rolls her eyes upwards again, nudging Sam in the ribs. "We should get going. We gotta write a report to Dani for last night's adventure." She says as she hops up to her feet.
