When you let Eddie pick the meet spot, it's inevitable she's going to veer to something up her alley. The All That Jazz Burlesque Club in Gotham fits with the city's Art Deco features, looking like something straight out of the Roaring 20's. Girls dressed in beads and bangles and sparkling headbands dance on stage as well as mill about the room, serving drinks or selling cigarettes.

While there are tables scattered around the main floor, there are booths that line the perimeter that are set off with thick velvet curtains and bottle service. Eddie is sitting in one that has been reserved for the evening for their meeting, a glass of something bubbly sitting untouched on the low table in front of the cushioned couch like banquette. Hey, technically Seneschal is paying so why not spring for the Champagne? Once he arrives, he'll be escorted back and the curtain drawn behind him to ensure their privacy.

* * *

And arrive Seneschal does. As usual, he is well dressed in a pressed suit. Somehow, he already fits in with the atmosphere. A silver tie clip winks off the lights and it seems as if he is somehow already familiar with the venue. Escorted through the curtain, he adjusts his cufflinks and glances around the private room with a cursory look.

Moving immediately to Eddie, he slides into the banquette next to her. He's, apparently, not the type that is going to allow Eddie to have him put his back up against the rest of room. Plucking the bottle of opened champagne off the table, he plucks a glass out of his jacket almost like magic. Setting it down, he pours himself a generous amount.

"I hope you have been enjoying yourself. What news? I do hope the world has not gone honest."

* * *

Eddie drapes an arm along the backside of their shared seat, dressed up for the venue slightly with a pair of black slacks and a shimmering silver blouse beneath her leather jacket. Her gloves, of course, are a staple. She's also put on a dash of understated make up, more just to blend into the crowd than try to enhance her looks for vanity's sake.

"Rest assured, it's still as corrupt as ever." Eddie replies with less charm than she's being inflicted with. "You'll be happy to know I've firmed my position within SHIELD, been placed under Coulson as my CO, and am securing relationships within the Company."

* * *

"That is good to hear." Taking a long drink of champagne, Seneschal leans back against the cushions and now takes in the room at a slower pace. He listens to Eddie as this happens. When he's gotten his fill of the room, he turns to her and finishes his glass, setting it back down on the table gently.

"Coulson agreed to be your CO?" There's a smile there, small but cold. That seems to have pleased him. "What sort of clearance do you have to start? Are you to be sent on missions or are they still trying to debrief you?"

* * *

"Coulson." Eddie clarifies. "Recruited me himself. Not going to conjure me up a glass too?" She asks with a slight lift to one eyebrow with the question, punctuating it with the black slant. As she waits to see if he'll deign to pour one for her, she continues. "I've been brought back in at level four, but I'm sure after a few ops under my belt, I'll get bumped up in short order. I was ordered to do some retraining, but after yesterday, I believe I'm now cleared for missions. Even met one of my team members, a mutant named Sloane Albright. More importantly, she didn't seem to know Coulson was still alive at the beginning of the briefing."

* * *

"Hm." Seneschal does not at all seem to be surprised to learn that Coulson is alive. Giving Eddie a look, he raises an eyebrow and then looks into his other jacket pocket, patting it down as if unsure anything is there. Then, another glass is procured. Setting it down on the table in front of them, he pours her a drink.

"There is still a lot of be done an accessed from a Level Four clearance. There are a few things I'd wish for you to access and report back even with that level." Pouring himself another drink just as soon as hers is filled, he raises an eyebrow. "The woman with aquatic powers? Interesting. I would have thought she would have known about Coulson before. When was your briefing?"

Once the drink is poured, he sets the bottle back down in front of him. "Have you met any resistance to rejoining? Any who seem particularly suspicious of you?"

* * *

Eddie leans forward to pinch the stem of her glass, lifting it to her lips without quite letting the glass touch before she just decants some of the liquid into her mouth with a practiced move. "It was yesterday. And he also revealed the coma cover was just that." One sip is enough for now, and she lets the glass rest on the meat of one thigh.

"There have been some questions about my return, but I've made sure my reply was convincing. The closer to the truth, the easier the lie. There was one recently, a Dani Moonstar, who seemed very interested in my opinions, yet didn't offer any of her own which makes me feel like it was more than just a casual conversation. But then again, what do you expect when you surround yourself with Agents."

* * *

"Interesting, so Coulson is going SHIELD public with his return." Seneschal keeps a hand on the base of his champagne glass. It's almost as if he would start to swirl it, but that's more for red wines than champagne. Instead, he thinks and nods a few times. "What are his thoughts about Registration? Is he deeply troubled?"

As for the questions, he takes that in stride. "It is an intelligence agency, after all." While no outward motion is made, it certainly seems as if he is taking the name Dani Moonstar into his internal rolodex.

He has not straightened, since his slouch, however, he continues to take in Hashmark more than his surroundings. "And what is your assessment of SHIELD so far? How are they faring? What do you think is their weakest point?"

* * *

"At least in small doses. I've been watching people's reactions as I explain that Coulson's the one that brought me back into the fold. It seems about fifty-fifty as to who does and doesn't know yet. But yes, I think it's no longer a classified secret." Eddie watches the bubbles creep up the side of her glass for a moment instead of keeping a wary eye on Seneschal. "Registration is the weakest point. People are divided on their opinion, and those that are against it say they'll follow the orders they are given regarding it, but I think with the right push it would cause descent among the ranks. Coulson falls into that category."

* * *

"Excellent."

Seneschal shimmies his way back up into a straighter sitting position. He was almost slouching before. "The more you can do to stoke Coulson's anger against registration the better. SHIELD is better divided. It has less time to look into other matters. I am sure you can appreciate that sentiment." He gives her a look and takes another drink of champagne.

Much like the glasses, he pulls a small flash drive out of his pocket and sets it on the table between the two of them. "This is your next mission. Plug this into a computer with SHIELD mainframe access."

* * *

Eddie gives a simple 'mm' in comment to her directive regarding Phil. Such a thing should be easy enough to do, with tensions as high as they are. Her eyes dip down to the flashdrive. "Uploading or downloading?" She leans forward and covers the drive with her palm and slides it off the table. Holding it up between a pinch of gloved fingers, she examines it briefly and then tucks it away into an inner pocket of her jacket. "How long will it need to be active? And what would you like me to do with it once it's done."

* * *

"All you need to know is that you should plug that flashdrive in. Give it five minutes and then you should destroy it."

Seneschal finishes his glass again and pours some more. He is paying, after all. "That drive is only good for five days. If it's not activated in that period of time, consider it a strike against our contract."

Turning to Eddie again, he smiles. This one is a bit warmer than before, but it still does not reach his eyes. "Keep working on Phil. I'd like to see where that takes you. Get him to trust you, get him to like you."

* * *

Eddie crooks her arm, threading fingers into her hair which she gives a little fluff to and then rests her temple on the heel of her palm. Her champagne is lifted again for a little sip, keeping her drinking modest compared to the third glass that Seneschal is on, but then again he's probably just magically making the alcohol disappear from his bloodstream or something equally cheating. "That shouldn't be too hard, Coulson was my mentor when I was younger. In a way, I am his wayward daughter. Five minutes, less than five days, destroy drive. Understood."

* * *

Smiling, Seneschal finishes his drink and sets the glass down. "I know." Perhaps this is why he chose her. Perhaps that was merely something that sweetened the deal. "I'll be in touch if you are not."

Standing, he buttons his suit jacket and slides out of the table. "Please feel free to stay. The bill is on me. Once the drive is in place, you know how to contact me."

* * *

"In that case, I have no choice but to stay through last call." Eddie responds with her first smile of the evening, a slight thing that barely lifts the corner of her mouth. In parting, Seneschal gets a little twiddle of fingers in a wave, nothing formal. "Pleasure doing business, leave the curtain parted so I can see the girls, will you?"

* * *

Seneschal smoothes down his lapels and gives Eddie his first true smile at her request. "As you wish." Stepping through the curtained doorway, he hooks the velvet over to leave it open. As that is done, he gives the woman a smirk and a bit of a bow and then steps into the crowd. As long as Eddie is there, the curtain will remain open, even if it is against the bar's policy.
