IT's been a couple of weeks where Liz has been working like crazy. She still goes out with Kara to fight rime but time at home has been limited. She is, at least, energetic and enthusiastic about all of their interactions. When they've happened. Today, at least, Liz is home with a pile of snacks on the table and a stack of movies. She's standing by the couch, bouncing lightly from left foot to right, eyes wide as she watches the window from the balcony. Since that is where Kara always enters. Nothing is different tonight from those the last few days - except, it seems, that Liz herself is actually present. Due to whatever confluence of the stars is required to make that actually a thing.

* * *

Flying into the apartment comes Kara. And she just sort of floats her way in, she's about to go straight to the bathroom to wash up as she's got a little bit of burn marks across her bared stomach. And some soot on her legs, but she pauses and looks over to Liz. She smiles and asks, "Hey, you home for the evening or something? Work end early?" Coming to a halt nearby th ecouch, Kara sort of stops close-ish to Liz but stays a few feet away. "Sorry, I'm covered in like dust carbon crsystals. Coal, dust. I had to fight this weaird steampunk robotic suit some minor villain invented. It was seriously dumb, slow, but was an air quality problem for sure."

* * *

"Coal dust?" There's a lot of blinking from Liz as she gives a brief nod. "That actually sounds kind of cool except for the, um… Carbon particles scattering everywhere. Hey, are you home for the night too? And did they actually manage to /burn/ you? Jeeze." Liz moves over to Kara then, her steps coming in quick, short movements propelling her far faster than her usual walk. She can't seem to help it. "Yeah, I decided to take the night off. Thought we could watch something. Eat some stuff. Sing some karaoke, maybe…" Liz takes a deep breath. "We haven't been spending a lot of time together lately. Out of costume, I mean. So, um. Maybe?"

* * *

"Yeah, coal dust. I guess it sounds cool. It looked like one of those hand drawn shows." And Kara smiles looking over and then down to some of the scorch marks on her body and she hrms, "I don't think so. Maybe? I'm okay now. Didn't even really notice, must of gotten some debris that was between me and it as well with it's plasma thrower." And then she shrugs, "I should be, unless, you know, like, a nuclear missile targets somewhere and I gotta zoom." She chuckles at the idea of a nuclear missile and then says, "I'll shower, and then come back out? I totally could watch stuff, and eat, that'd be great."

* * *

"We should hang out more often. Like. Actually hang out, not this whole thing we're we're sort of just wandering past eachother all the time. Liz makes a face and then takes a deep breath, which is held for several beats before she continues with, "I'll set up. You decide what movie you want to see!" Then she is waving Kara toward the shower with both hands. WHen the Kryptonian does reemerge Liz will have rearranged everything in the living room to create a more theatre-like layout for the furniture, with the snack table in the middle for ease of reaching. For what actual reason? No one can quite be sure.

* * *

From a distance Kara is able to look at the movies and she says, "Frozen?" She smiles a bit as she heads off. The shower is quickish, she is fast, but she can only compel the water to rush out so quickly. And then she's drying herself off by mostly baking herself with broadly diffused heatvision. WHen she emerges she's got on some shorts and a midriff revealing white t-shirt. Simple, and easy and she looks at the room. "I totally want to hang out and do stuff, Liz. You're just busy and I'm getting yelled at by the city, and there's the whole registration thing still. Ugh. It's so tough being right all the time."

* * *

"Okay. Fine. Fine! Frozen. …Again." The movie is queued up by the time Kara has any reason to worry about it at all. She's just standing beside the couch, waiting with a remo0te in hand. And then… Kara speaks. For a seocnd, Liz stares at the blonde openly, gaping. Then she gives a couplq uick nods. "…Right all the itme. Right. Must be ough being the smartest person on the planet. Next to me, I mean." That's a bit of a mumble. Liz quickly overwrites it by continuing with, "Hey! Snacks. Let's eat these, then talk more about it? Tell me about what they're giving you so much trouble with. Maybe I can help or something…" She is opening up a large bag of cheetos now, complete with a familiar "pop" of the seal being torn apart.

* * *

There's a pause, "Well, okay, of course next to you. I love you because of your big brain, and super speed, and you're crazy." Kara comes by and gives a quick peck to your cheek, and then she moves to the couch. "Oooh, can I brush your hair? And braid it? Or do something with it? I've been seeing all these people do that with their friends, and it looks like it could be fun." Settling on the couch she mentions, "You can sit on the floor in front of me on a pillow or something oooooor, on the couch, just a little harder to see what I'm doing." She smiles big, "But it doesn't seem that tough." With a shrug though she adds, just, "I am working with Trish Walker, to try and get something through. I am going to get an interview on her show Trish Talk."

* * *

"Oh! Trish Walker? I love Trish Talk." There's a sigh of relief from Liz, but then she's nodding quickly and bouncing again. "Okay! Sure. Hair braiding. Just- um… Move the couch back a little and I'll go get a pillow to sit on." Then she disappears from the room, moving at ridiculous speed even by Kara's standards. It's a big fluffy pillow that Liz comes back with. She has no problem kneeling down on it in front of the couch. "Do you know how to do braids?" Liz asks then, slowly. "Anyway. I'm sure it'll be fine. Go ahead."

* * *

"Yeah, I've been a fan of Trish since she was Patsy Walker. My pod caught Earth broadcasts and fed them kind of into my stasis mind. It was one of the shows that I basically watched for years." Kara offers and grins and then waves a hand toward the TV, "Frozen though. I love this movie. It's so gooooood." And she shakes her head to the question about ever braiding hair, "Nope, it just looks fun, and I get to play with your hairr." She zips off, a moment, and grabs a brush before zipping back and kind of putting her legs on either side of Liz's seated position. And she starts by running fingers through hair, and brushing a few times just to remove snags. In most things Kara is pretty much a hammer hitting a nail, but in brushing at least she does it right. She learned when she was still able to have hair snagged and hurt and pulled out from brushes, and she goes slow, and if anything with her super-sensitive touch she's capable of feeling the tension probably even before it'd register nerve responses with Liz. "What about you, what have you been working on?"

* * *

"Running tests on new superstrong materials people could use to make- supersuits. Costumes. Things for superheroes, I guess." Liz blinks a couple of times a this. She relaxes easily under Kara's ministrations, having grown used to having her hair brushed. She trusts the blonde implicitly, it's clea- with ehr own safety, if not the dishes or any inconvenient nearby buildings. After a moment Liz remembers herself and scoops up the remote once more in order to begin the movie. "Frozen is okay but I kind of like movies that are more serious sometiems? But that doesn't matter. This is great. We're going to watch this." The smaller woman starts to nod, then freezes, taking a deep breath. "…Anyway. It will be fun. I know all the songs. Even the annoying snowman's parts."

* * *

"Do you need like, a really really really really strong person to try and break the materials? I could totally help with that." Offers Kara with the only help she really knows how to give. And then she's going to brush hair again and watching the beginning of Frozen kind of eyes glued there but still can pay attention to the hair in her hands. "Frozen -is- a serious movie. It's about a girl growing up to adulthood, finding her way, knowing that the curse of never being in control, never being accepted, never being able to be part of the people she cares about so much - is okay, once she comes to realize the problem isn't her. It's everyone being afraid of her, even she was, or is, because we haven't gotten that far yet." And she smiles lightly as she watches as well, "But, we can watch a boring movie after this one if you want. Whatever you want, okay? You just, asked, and this is my favorite Earth movie."

* * *

"… No. Please don't. Break the lab, I mean," Liz responds quickly, shaking her head. "WE already know you can do that, it won't help me figure this out. Um." Then she pauses for a second and adds, "Boring movie? Bah. I like lots of great movies. Like Memento. Or something. Maybe we should watch Scott Pilgrim. ALso, Frozen would be great if they hadn't shoehorned in, like, a villain and a weird snowman. Everything you mentioned is fine! Honest. Really."

* * *

"It's fuuuuuuun. I mean, it's great. And it's got songs. Which has more songs, Scott Pilgrim or Frozen? And Memento, it's like, how do you -not- see what's going on from near the beginning? And then it's just a movie about a guy who tattoos himself." Kara laughs a little bit at that, and shakes her head, "Oooh, instead of Frozen we could watch Beauty and the Beast? Aladdin? Little Mermaid?" She throws out Disney films often, "The Ring?" That's new, she's never suggested a horror movie before.

* * *

"The Ring? …Sure." Liz nods at that, slowly. "Or, The Usual Suspects? But you might figure that oen out too fast. Hm…" Liz is fidgetign sligthly while she thinks, though she manages to contain it mostly to arms and hands, preventing herself from disturbing the braiding too much. "Anyway! Frozen is fine for the first one. And then The RIng, I guess? Actually, I kind of want to see Get Out, if we're doing horror…"

* * *

"Frozen first, then Get Out. See, compromised and everything. We worked through the challenge -together-." Kara rah rahs as she sets down the brush and starts tracing through the hair in her hands to separate it out into groups that she holds between her fingers. And then she starts moving them about, going kind of slow, like normalish human speed, while she's watching the movie. "Um, could you feed me some cheetos, I don't want to get my fingers all cheesy and then in your hair." She opens her mouth and goes 'ahhhhhhhh' waiting.

* * *

"…Okay." Eliza rolls her eyes, but she's smiling as she tosses cheetos expertly into Kara's mouth, a couple at a time. She takes a deep breath then and listens as the characters on screen are discussing things like ice and Moose. It's a very energetic movie. Liz, however, seems to be slowing down as time goes on, moving less frenetically and more - spastically. Lots of awkward, unncoordinated gestures. Not so uncoordinated that she has trouble giving Kara snacks while her partner braids her hair, at least.

* * *

Chewing and crunching cheetos experly, Kara has to undo some of the braiding as she's trying to match up her actions to something she saw while flying over a high school. And at fast speeds, and then extrapolating the rest. This particular braid that she's doing is a Waterfall braid, and Kara asks, "How's the whole, drug, um, hunt, going?" She asks kind of awkwardly.

* * *

"Well," Eliza replies slowly. "It's going. I don't think I've got it right, quite. I'm still trying to find somethin that will keep me from going ccompletelly off the rails, but I want ot strike a balance before I bore you to death being all… Normal, oior whatever. And finding something that doesn't make me all depressed is- hard. Sio. I keep working." Eliza's reply is given with more brightness than she actually feels. At least her fidgeting has calmed to the point where Kara can easily manage the rather elaborate braid she has chosen for the Brazilian biologist's long, dark hair. "I know you're not happy about me doing it—- but … I have to. Really."

* * *

"Why don't we agree that it's just a temporary fix? And instead, we work on fixing it another way at the same time? You know, giving you more control, without losing yourself." Kara mentions and then leans forward and kisses the back of your head, right on the braid she made. "Done! I think I did it. Looks pretty close to what I saw. Ooooh, best song coming up!" Let it go's scene is just starting.
